welcome!
Southside Mothers’ Day Out (SSMDO) is a charitable, part-time, childcare facility providing a full day alternative to traditional pre-school programs. Children between the ages of 19 months to five years old are invited to participate in our enriching, learn through play programming one or two days per week!
At SSMDO the program is divided into two rooms. Children aged three to five years old are engaged in activities ranging from music, arts, drama, free and organized play, physical activity outside or in the gymnasium and gross motor skill development. Children aged 19 months to less than three are provided with the same opportunities; however the activities are catered to their age and attention of care. All the children enjoy two snacks a day and a lunch time with their peers. Opportunity for sleep or rest is given to all the children if required.
At SSMDO you and your child will experience many rewarding relationships, activities and opportunities for growth, stimulation and new friendships. The program’s philosophy is based on the belief that children learn best in a child-centered environment, supported by caring adults. We believe that children are naturally motivated to make sense of their world and that the primary vehicle in their quest for knowledge is play. Children need to be active participants and have the freedom to experiment, discover, and learn independently in a supportive environment.
Our program allows parents to work or pursue other activities one or two days a week, secure in the knowledge that their children are well cared for.
